Exterior Restoration - Small Crown

After two years in the making the exterior of the house will finally be painted. Before painting can begin our carpenter will repair any of the cracked or deteriorated siding or casing.

Replacement cedar siding and lumber for the trim, crown, drip cap.

Picture carpenter sent of the crown after milling.

Light Fixtures

Here's some old light fixtures we bought a couple years ago. Need to rewire and replace some missing parts. These match nicely with our chandelier and entry light.

I think we only paid $10 for all three.

Wood Treatment

Sanding is complete and the final step before paint/stain is treating the wood with a 1:1 mixture of linseed oil and turpentine. The hope is by conditioning the wood that has dried out over the years will result in longer paint life by preventing the wood from sucking out the paint and putty oils causing premature failure.  The stuff also smells great!
